Sollatek Provides Families And Children With Light

In Uganda, only about 8% of the rural population have access to the national grid, and for those that do have it, average consumption is very low due to unaffordability of service. Power cuts and lack of lighting is a massive problem for many countries around the world. At Sollatek, we understand the importance of lighting and have helped many families with our new solar lantern.

In November 2017, Kings Church Ministries supplied the YWAM (Youth with a Mission Charity) and Dreamland Orphanage with Sollatek’s new iGlow One. It is an economical and robust LED solar lantern with a built in solar panel. It is designed to supply light in a non-electrified area and ideal for small scale off-grid applications. It provides up to 14 hours of light from a single charge and also allows smart phone charging.

The iGlow’s were given to the Dreamland Orphanage at the Rhino Refugee Camp near the borders of Southern Sudan – these lanterns will help the children with their homework, studying at night and provide them with light when they need it the most. It will also provide mothers with light to cook. The iGlow’s were also supplied to the YWAM base in Uganda to help with their mission work into Congo, South Sudan and Central Africa Republic. Not only will this help brighten families’ lives, it will also keep them safe when they are travelling at night. Not only do they have access to lighting but they can also charge there smart phone and other devices which will keep them contactable at all times.

Kings Church Ministries also organised Youth programs, Children’s after-school clubs, business training sessions for women and visited the Refugee camp hosting the families and children affected by the war in Southern Sudan.
