KEBS Cracks Down on KSh 2.5Million Counterfeit Haul

The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has intercepted 24,000 substandard electrical extension sockets worth Ksh2.5 million, imported from China. The large quantity of counterfeited electrical extension sockets were seized in Mombasa, to try and rid the market of unsafe electrical goods. The operation, which took place at the Port of Mombasa, is part of KEBS’ ongoing market surveillance campaign to ensure only compliant products are sold to Kenyan consumers.

According to KEBS, the intercepted sockets did not meet required safety specifications and posed a significant risk of electrical faults, fire hazards, and personal injury. The non-compliant goods were detained under the Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) programme, which screens products before they enter the Kenyan market.

✅ At Sollatek, we fully support KEBS’ efforts to enhance consumer safety and uphold quality standards in the electrical sector.

As a trusted manufacturer and supplier of voltage protection and power control products globally, Sollatek has always prioritized safety, durability, and compliance. All our products are rigorously tested and certified to meet or exceed KEBS and international standards.

We encourage consumers, retailers, and distributors to remain vigilant and avoid unbranded or suspiciously low-cost electrical items. Always verify the products are genuine by purchasing from verified retailers.
